Project Highlights:

Company Name: Contra Costa Mosquito & Vector Control District Situational Analysis:
Project Name: “Creating an Online Pesticide Spray Notification System Using an Online Newsletter Service” West Nile virus, a mosquito-borne disease, affected many of our county's one million residents, claiming two lives. CCMVCD, a non-profit public health agency, began spraying pesticides in neighborhoods to protect residents.

They and the media demanded advanced notification and specific locations, but CCMVCD sprays immediately when risk is evident since infected mosquitoes fly away. Solution: utilize an online newsletter and Google as a notification tool.

Key Achievement(s): ▪ Boosted Convenience by Notifying Subscribers within an Hour--No More Angry Callers, No All-Hour Media Calls for Location Verification

▪ 190% Subscriber Increase--Open Rate of 53% vs. 20% Average

▪ Benefit of Immediate Notification Without Compromising Spraying -- A Public Health Response. Win-Win!
